Village Life: Waterways of Burgundy and Provence
October 20-28, 2006

Price:
From approximately $2,195 plus airfare

Savor the rich wines of Burgundy and the delectable cuisine of Provence while cruising through the French heartland aboard the four-star M.V. Princess De Provence. See first-hand the awe-inspiring landscapes, medieval churches and castles that captured the imaginations of master-painters like Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cézanne. From Lyon, France’s culinary capital, follow the scenic Saône and Rhône rivers to some of Europe’s oldest cities and villages—and its fabled vineyards. Throughout the week, sample Beaujolais in Trevoux; explore the Roman monuments of Arles; view the marvelous 14th-century Papal Palace in Avignon; see the medieval monastic center of Tournus; and explore the legendary Romanesque Abbey of Cluny, the largest building in Christendom for 500 years and a major pilgrimage destination during the Middle Ages. Throughout the program, enjoy expert-led tours and special lectures, as well as the finest service, accommodations and regional fare.
