BAVARIAN MARKETS DISCOVERY

NOVEMBER 29 – DECEMBER 7
$2,295 plus airfare


DAY 1: Depart your gateway city for Frankfurt, Germany.

DAY 2: Upon arrival, transfer to the Hotel Eisenhut in the charming town of Rothenberg, located on the beautiful Romantic Road. Enjoy the highlights of Rothenberg. Browse the Christmas Markets and shops specializing in Christmas ornaments and gifts. This evening, gather with your fellow travellers for a festive Holiday Reception at the hotel. (R)

DAY 3: Explore Nürnberg, one of the largest and most popular Christmas Markets in Germany. The afternoon is at leisure to browse the markets and discover the highlights of Nürnberg. Enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant in the city center, featuring local specialties with wine. (B,L)

DAY 4: Stop in the beautiful medieval town of Nördlingen en route to Dinkelsbühl, and enjoy a walking tour. Continue to Dinkelsbühl, and visit its charming local Christmas Market. Lunch is served in a typical inn in Nördlingen. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: Travel to the riverside town of Regensburg; enjoy exclusive access to the private Christmas Market in the Thurn und Taxis Castle. Lunch in Regensburg at the Hotel Bischofshof, featuring local specialties and local wine. Continue on the Romantic Road to Munich. Upon arrival, transfer to the Hotel Excelsior. (B,L)

DAY 6: Tour the highlights of Munich, including the Olympic Park, Viktualienmarkt, University, Town Hall and Schwabing. At your leisure, visit the Marienplatz Christmas Markets or join a baking demonstration of German gingerbread specialities. Enjoy a special wine tasting, including the traditional glühwein. (B,L)

DAY 7: Journey to Wieskirche, Linderhof Castle and Oberammergau. Admire one of Germany’s most beautiful Rococo churches at Wieskirche. In Linderhof, see the fairytale Linderhof Castle built by the mad King Ludwig. Shop the Christmas Market in the charming village of Oberammergau. (B,L)

DAY 8: Choose to spend the day on your own, or take an excursion to Andechs to tour the monastery and to enjoy lunch before moving on to Diessen for a visit to a small pewter foundry. This evening, gather for a festive holiday farewell dinner at a traditional German inn located in the countryside outside of Munich. Feast on local holiday specialities and sip beer and wine. DAY 9: Transfer to the airport for the return flight to the U.S. (B)
