PASSAGE OF PETER THE GREAT

DAY 1: Depart for Moscow, Russia.

DAY 2: Arrive in Moscow and transfer to the M.S. Repin. (D)

DAY 3: This morning’s tour visits the Kremlin with its magnificent walls, churches and the Armory Museum. Visit the State Tretyakov Gallery, which houses one of the finest collections of Russian art in the world. (B,L,D)

DAY 4: Travel to the Star City for an exclusive tour of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, home to the Russian space program. Then, visit Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathedral. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: This morning, enjoy a few hours of free time before the ship departs Moscow and sails along the Volga River. Tonight, attend a festive welcome party! (B,L,D)

DAY 6: Enjoy the scenic countryside of the Volga River before arriving in the historic town of Uglich early this afternoon. During a walking tour of the town, visit the grounds of the Old Kremlin, the Church of St. Dmitry on the Blood with its cluster of blue spangled domes and the 18th century Transfiguration Cathedral. DAY 7: Arrive in Yaroslavl, a city that features wide, tree-lined streets and a fascinating old town. Enjoy an overview of the town and a visit to the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior, one of Russia’s richest and best-fortified monasteries of the 16th century. Continue to the Church of Elijah the Prophet, known for its excellent frescoes. (B,L,D)

DAY 8: Arrive at Goritsy, an ancient Russian village that had been closed for many years to western visitors. Discover its hidden treasures, including the Kirill-Belosersk Monastery. (B,L,D)

DAY 9: The small island of Kizhi on Lake Onega is an outdoor museum of traditional Russian wooden architecture from the 18th century. The familiar onion-shaped domes of its churches were uniquely constructed— shingle by shingle, without the use of nails. The Church of the Transformation with its 22 onion domes is considered one of Russia’s most architecturally splendid churches. (B,L,D)

DAY 10: During a relaxed day of sailing, appreciate the unspoiled beauty of the Neva and Svir Rivers and Lakes Ladoga and Onega. Make a stop in Mandrogi, a small settlement that provides a closeup view of wooden dachas or summer homes. Enjoy barbeque lunch. (B,L,D)

DAY 11: This morning, arrive in St. Petersburg. Visit Peterhof, the palace of Peter the Great, the Bronze Horseman statue and St. Isaac’s Cathedral. Enjoy a cultural performance at The Hermitage in the evening. (B,L,D)

DAY 12: This morning visit the Hermitage Museum. The afternoon is at leisure. (B,L,D)

DAY 13: Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the U.S. (B)
