UKRAINE: CRUISE THE MAGNIFICENT DNIEPER

DAY 1: Depart your gateway city for Kiev, Ukraine.

DAY 2: Upon arrival, transfer to the M.S. Dnieper Princess. This evening, attend the captain’s welcome reception and dinner. (R,D)

DAY 3: Learn about Ukraine as the Borderland, then explore Kiev from Vladimir’s Hill, high above the Dnieper River. See St. Sophia’s Cathedral and Kiev’s breathtaking modern monuments. (B,L,D)

DAY 4: Attend a lecture on 20th-century Ukraine. Then, visit its key church and monastery buildings, including the Caves Monastery, a network of caves and tunnels containing remains of Ukraine’s oldest saints. This evening attend a private performance by the Ukrainian National Choir. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: As the ship sails to Zaporizhia, enjoy Ukrainian food, folklore, music and traditions. (B,L,D)

DAY 6: In Zaporizhia, learn about the origins and traditions of the Cossacks, warrior horsemen who dominated Ukrainian history from the 15th to 18th century. Visit the Cossack Glory Museum and attend a Cossack Horse Show. (B,L,D)

DAY 7: Attend a lecture on contemporary Ukraine and the Orange Revolution followed by an excursion to the Tavria region, famous for its wide steppes, gardens and vineyards. Then, travel by smaller boat to the river’s delta. Visit a traditional fishing village and meet local residents in their homes. (B,L,D)

DAY 8: Learn about the heritage of Crimea before exploring the natural beauty of this region. enjoy a morning city tour of Sevasopol. Explore Bakhchisarai, a city that inspired famed author Alexander Pushkin, and visit the former residence of Khan Girey, a blend of Russian, Italian, Ukrainian and Turkish style. This evening, enjoy a concert performed by the Black Sea Naval Fleet Ensemble. (B,L,D)

DAY 9: Experience Yalta and visit Livadia Palace, the former summer residence of the Romanovs and the setting of the famed Yalta Conference. (B,L,D)

DAY 10: Explore Odessa’s spectacular landmarks and visit the Museum of Fine Arts, where you’ll see 14th-century icons, modern paintings, drawings and sculptures. (B,L,D)

DAY 11: Today, arrive in Tulcea, Romania. Tour the nearby Danube Delta (B,L,D)

DAY 12: Disembark M.S. Dnieper Princess and transfer by motor coach to Bucharest, where you’ll check in to the Intercontinental Bucharest. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B,L,D)

DAY 13: Walk the tree-lined boulevards of Bucharest to see its astonishing variety of architectural styles. Discover its rich collection of historic churches, elegant villas and romantic squares. Tonight, enjoy a farewell reception and dinner. (B,L,R,D)

DAY 13: Transfer by motor coach to the airport for the return flight to the U.S. (B)
