The passage of time has been kind to the rolling hills and small villages of England’s Cotswolds, a delightful region of lush pastoral landscapes, medieval castles and deep-rooted cultural traditions. Immerse yourself in the heart of the English countryside and discover this region’s enchanting natural beauty and priceless historic treasures. Stroll across the fabled quads of Oxford, marvel at the grandeur of Gloucester Cathedral, and experience the traditions of villages like Broadway and Chipping Camden where life has remained relatively unchanged for centuries.

Day 1 Depart the United States for London, England.

Day 2 Arrive in London and transfer to the Queen’s Hotel in Cheltenham. Enjoy a buffet lunch and spend some time at leisure before greeting fellow travelers at a wine and cheese welcome reception at the hotel. (L, R)

Day 3 This morning, learn the history of Cheltenham during an informative seminar. After the seminar, discover the best of Cheltenham’s fine Regency architecture during a walking tour. Enjoy lunch on your own before visiting Gloucester Cathedral, considered one of the finest examples of Norman and Gothic architecture in Britain. (B)

Day 4 This morning, travel to Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, for an exclusive “behind-the-scenes” tour hosted by Lord Charles Spencer-Churchill. Motor to Oxford for a walking tour of the legendary town and visit one of its renowned colleges. (B, L)

Day 5 Travel through the picturesque villages of Ebrington, Upper and Lower Brailes and Shipston-on-Stour. Continue to Broughton Castle and marvel at magnificent plaster ceilings, fine paneling and majestic fireplaces. Enjoy a light lunch at Broughton Castle before returning to the hotel for an insightful Village Forum. (B, L, D)

Day 6 Today, motor cross-country to the charming northern villages of the Cotswolds. Admire ancient cottages dating back to the 16th century. Enjoy lunch on your own in Burford. On your return trip, stroll leisurely through Stow-on the-Wold’s great market square featuring shops and inns constructed in Cotswold Stone. (B)

Day 7 This morning, visit the Hidcote Manor Garden, one of England’s finest gardens, famous for its rare trees, shrubs, herbaceous borders and old roses. Continue on to the honey-colored village of Chipping Campden, famous for its Cotswold architectural style. This afternoon, discover the typical English town of Broadway and stroll down its main street, lined with red chestnut trees. (B, D)

Day 8 Enjoy your last full day in England at leisure. (B)
Optional Excursion: Travel to Stratford-upon-Avon, one of the most important cultural destinations in the United Kingdom and visit the grave of Shakespeare, who is buried just five meters below it. Steeped in culture and history, Stratford-upon-Avon is located in the beautiful, rural Warwickshire countryside, on the banks of the river Avon. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure. (B)

Day 9 After enjoying your final breakfast in England, transfer to the airport for your flight home. (B)
