Volunteer

your time or share your expertise with Maryland. Strengthen the Maryland family by expanding our clubs and chapters. Attend a local or regional club event in your area. Support your college’s academic alumni chapter.

Who are you?

February: Promotion for Terp Service Weekend Begins

Alumni association staff starts to promote Terp Service Weekend, activity leaders recruited, Terp Service Weekend info. Web page is live: www.alumni.umd/terpservicemonth

February: Poll your club to gauge interest in service activities (if members are interested, what type of project is appealing to most, etc.)

Month of February: Research and speak with service organizations in your area about tentative projects and partnerships

Recruit another alum to be co-leader of your activity (i.e. assist with planning, photography and additional tasks)

3-4 Weeks Prior to Event: Deadline to confirm site/project and submit Service Activity Detail Form to alumni association via www.alumni.umd.edu/terpservicemonth. Service Activity Detail form is also available online at www.alumni.umd.edu/terpservicemonth

March 1: Online Registration Opens

Volunteers may begin to sign up for service projects online at www.alumni.umd.edu/terpserviceweekend

2 Weeks Prior to Event: Participant T-Shirt Guarantee Deadline

Register by March 16 for your free Terp Service Weekend t-shirt
If you do not register by March 16 wear your Terp gear to the community service activity

1 Week Prior to Event:: Confirmation email from activity leader sent to activity participants via alumni association. (NOTE: This will occur if confirmation email language was included in the Activity Detail Form) If not, directly send volunteers any further details about the community service activities (what they should bring, what they should wear, etc.)

April: Terp Service Month

Remember to take pictures/video

After Event Terp Service Weekend Wrap Up/Deadline to Submit activity sign-up sheets, evaluations forms and pictures/videos to alumni association. Please submit materials to peraza@umd.edu.
