University of Maryland

In response to the University’s 'Do Good’ mission, the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences' Alumni Network is hosting a fundraising dinner in support of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Silver Spring, which offers emergency aid and long-term assistance to refugees displaced by war, persecution or natural disaster. In directly supporting the IRC, we applaud the IRC’s efforts in providing recently resettled refugees with basic necessities – such as clothing and household items–as well as programming and staffing resources they need to start rebuilding their lives within our local communities.

We invite you to join us on Monday, April 24 at 6PM, which is generously being sponsored by Gordon Biersch in Rockville. 100% of the proceeds we collect will be given to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), in support of their programming efforts. The BSOS Alumni Chapter Board will match, up to $1,750 any funds collected in support of this initiative.

At this dinner, we will hear from Mr. Nick King, Development Manager for the International Rescue Committee about the services that they provide to the refugee community, as well as welcome and hear stories from recent refugees that are being serviced by the IRC.
