Washington DC
National Mall - Lincoln Memorial
2 Lincoln Memorial Cir NW
Washington, D.C.

As the Federal Government shutdown rolls into its 3rd week, our city is seeing more and more of its impact as critical services are suspended. Since the shutdown began, D.C. Public Works says they've been collecting trash from litter cans in national parks twice a day and plan on continuing until the shutdown ends. However, D.C. Public Works says crews do not pick up loose litter.

In response to this crisis, the Terps In DC network is organizing a National Mall litter clean up this coming Sunday from 12 p.m. -.3p.m.

As Terps we value community and we have an opportunity to put that into action. This is our city, our community, and our responsibility to step up.

This is a completely open event non-Terps are encouraged to join us to make our city beautiful again. Please invite your friends, family, colleagues.

Starting from the Lincoln Memorial at 12 p.m., we will work our way down the center strip of the Mall picking up loose litter.
Wear your warmest University of Maryland (or your alma mater) gear!

Trash bags and latex gloves will be provided (If possible, please bring your own gloves).

We are closely monitoring the weather and will adjust if necessary.
