Join your fellow women alumnae leaders in the Greater New York area for this alumnae leadership event on October 16. Our host, Luminary, founded and run by Terp alumna Cate Luzio '97, is the premier collaboration hub for women who are passionate about professional development and expanding their networks.

The evening will consist of networking, followed by an alumnae panel moderated by Cate Luzio. The event will conclude with networking, food, and drinks.

Cate Luzio is the Founder and CEO of Luminary, the premier collaboration hub for women who are passionate about professional development and expanding their networks. This 15,000 square foot meeting space in New York City includes a rooftop deck and two floors of open workspace, conference rooms and meeting space, a fitness studio, beauty bar, locker room, lactation room, prayer/meditation room and much more. A long-time advocate for empowering women and girls, Cate serves on the National Board for Girls Inc. 

Cate has over twenty years of leadership experience in financial services. Previously, she was the Executive Vice President and Global Head of Multinational Corporate Banking for HSBC managing roughly $2 billion in revenue and teams in 55 countries. Cate also served as a Managing Director and Head of Multinational Corporate Banking at J.P. Morgan. She has received numerous recognitions including being named to the Most Powerful Women in Banking List by American Banker multiple times as well as a two-time recipient of the Financial Times and Heroes Global Diversity Champion. Cate has also been featured in the Financial Times, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Fast Company, Bloomberg, USA Today, NowThis News, Politico, Women’s Wear Daily, Robb Report and more. She holds a master’s degree in International Relations from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland. She’s a global traveller having visited more than 114 countries. Cate also sits on the Advisory Board of Girls Inc. NYC as well as the National Board of WaterAid.




Bonnie Bernstein `92
Founder, Walk Swiftly Productions

Bonnie Bernstein is recognized by the American Sportscasters Association as one of the most accomplished female journalists in her field. Bernstein is the founder of Walk Swiftly Productions, her latest endeavor in a career that has spanned nearly two decades on-air with ESPN and CBS, covering the NFL, NBA, MLB and college football and basketball. WSP’s most recent productions include the award-winning ESPN’s esports documentary, GOOD GAME, and CMT’s multi-platform profile series Country on Campus. Bernstein is a seasoned corporate speaker and industry event panelist, and has served as a guest commentator for several news networks, including NBC, MSNBC and Fox News Channel. Additionally, she is the only female to solo-host the award-winning radio program, The Dan Patrick Show.

Senior Beauty Editor, PureWow
Jenny is the Senior Beauty Editor at PureWow. She's a New Orleans native and proud graduate of UMD (Class of '09). After starting her career in the nonprofit and finance sectors, she made a pivot into the media industry as the beauty editor at Real Simple magazine. Since joining the PureWow team in 2016, she has interviewed everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow to Carrie Underwood and hosts a weekly YouTube series called "The Glow Up," where she gives insider access into the latest beauty trends and treatments. Ruth Umoh a reporter at Forbes covering the various aspects of diversity and inclusion in business and society at large. Previously, Ruth was a reporter at CNBC, where she focused on leadership, strategic management and the future of work. Her articles have been featured on New York Daily  News, MSNBC, Yahoo Finance and Time Out. Ruth is a proud alumna of Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she focused on investigative and business journalism. Ruth is also a University of Maryland graduate and a lifelong Terps fan.
