One of my favorite moments at UMD so far was packing meals for local food banks with multiple student organizations during the Terps Against Hunger homecoming event last year. The event reaffirmed that UMD is a community that works to help others.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to be a contributor in the movement to educate girls and alleviate poverty in the developing world.

My favorite UMD moment of all time was with Terp Thon this past year; I was a member of the Executive Board. We set an ambitious year-long goal to raise $1 million for Children's National Health System. After a full year of hard work, more than 3,000 students registered for Terp Thon, pledging to stand on their feet and dance for 12 hours. At the end of the night, we unveiled our fundraising total: $1,001,394.26. It was the most incredible, heart-warming moment of my college career. All of our hard work had paid off, and the life-saving impact this money will have on the kids at Children's cannot be understated.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

that in the future, every child gets the care they need. I joined the Terp Thon Executive Board to raise funds and awareness for Children’s National Heal System. With Terp Thon, I want to see my fearless idea become a reality.

My favorite Maryland alum is Tom McMillen. If there are two things I've taken a keen interest in during my time at Maryland, it's Maryland basketball and congressional politics, and McMillen represents both of those worlds. Throughout my three years at Maryland, I've interned in three congressional offices and attended countless basketball games. McMillen represents someone who fought hard as a Terp on the basketball court and even harder as a representative for the people of Maryland in Congress.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to hold an elected office and not play politics. I want to pursue my dream of winning political office without obeying all the conventional political norms. I want to be a public servant.

Lacy Gilmer is one of the practicing veterinarians at the clinic where I work and she has been such an inspiration to me the past few years. Always there to provide support and guidance, she is the person who made me fall in love with veterinary medicine! Raising a calf at UMD has been my most rewarding experience so far.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to merge veterinary work with conservation education. I want to encourage the public to be a part of wildlife rescue missions and rehabilitation processes.

Sergey Brin is my favorite UMD alumnus. In 8th grade I did an oral history project on the impact of Google on society and since then it has been a dream of mine to work at Google at some point in my life. Knowing that Sergey Brin went to the University of Maryland has been extremely motivating.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

discovering a way to fuse my passion for my major with my passion for interacting with people into a major that I can love for the rest of my life.

My favorite UMD alumnus is Evan Lutz, the founder of Hungry Harvest. As a dietetics major, I am passionate about the demand for both affordable and nutritious meals. Healthy Harvest takes food that would otherwise be thrown away or not bought and sells it at a discounted price. For every box of produce sold, a box is given to a person in need.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to use the power of nutrition to aid in cancer treatment.

My favorite UMD alumnus is Peter Rosenberg, a radio DJ and TV show host based in New York City. He followed his passion and honed his craft relentlessly and ended up gaining prominence doing what he loves.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

already underway.  My friend and I created an online Q&A service for UMD undergraduate students that provides a centralized forum to ask any coursework-related questions, any time. This idea turned into afterclass, now a fully-functional Android application and mobile-optimized website.

My favorite UMD moment, although there are countless, was during one rainy night at McKeldin Mall. Unlike most amazing memories at the mall filled with sunshine, it started raining while I was playing one of the travelling painted pianos with a group of friends and friendly new acquaintances. As it started to pour the singing and playing simmered down but the chatter and developing friendships only grew as someone offered their big umbrella and the large group fit underneath, comfortable knowing the benevolent spirit of fellow Terps.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to connect two fields others usually never think to connect, biology and economics. By harnessing the strengths, similarities, and differences in the two fields I can bring about new theories that lead to positive change socially through very calculated, scientific means.

Kevin A. Plank is my favorite alum because of his spirit of entrepreneurship and his involvement in philanthropy with the University of Maryland. His passion for his line of work and the influence he has on business students at Smith has earned respect and admiration from students like myself. Mr. Plank has brought esteem to our Smith business school and continues to inspire current students with resources—he inspires me to act on my fearless ideas and show my Terp pride!

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to market a product that my peers and I developed in my Business Chain Value class last semester - a car safety product that prevents teens from driving when they are intoxicated

My favorite UMD alumnus is Representative Steny Hoyer (D-MD). As a government and politics major, I have always been proud to go to the same school as a U.S. Congressman and former House Minority Whip. Not only is he an incredible Congressman, but he is also a proud Terp with admirable character.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to end homelessness by strengthening the relationship between city governments, non-profits and private businesses so that they can better understand each other's roles in addressing homelessness and work together to solve it.

I’ve truly enjoyed getting notes from undergraduate students that tell me my class influenced some part of their experience at UMD.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to create a transformation experience in the college classroom for all students by building a diverse community within and outside the class.

My favorite moment as a student so far was during the 2016 Big 10 Men's Basketball tournament in Indianapolis, IN. I didn't think any Maryland students would attend since the game was so far away from home, but during the line-up announcement I heard the familiar sound of rustling newspapers and to my surprise found a heard of Terps up in the student section. Having that tradition away from home made me feel very proud to be a Terp that day and encouraged me to cheer harder for our team.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to create a network connecting current UMD students with alumni through events and online connections.

I loved having the opportunity to serve as a graduate student representative on the Middle States Accreditation efforts for UMD. It was an excellent chance to see classroom concepts in action while serving the university.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to develop a university-based leadership institute or center that empowers women, inspires confidence, and mitigates unconscious bias so that no individual in higher education - student, staff, faculty, leader - is prevented from reaching their fullest potential.

My favorite UMD alumna is my mother, because she was a refugee when she first came to America. Through hard work and perseverance, she was able to gain a bachelor's degree in accounting and then her CPA at Maryland

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to change the world by helping to grow innovative businesses that can make big impacts.

Sophomore year I hosted two students for an informal overnight and after they both told me that they had decided to attend UMD for engineering. It made me happy knowing that sharing my experiences at UMD inspired another student to choose to go there.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

using my degree in engineering to connect the world on an international scale and combat the global grand challenges of engineering.

My favorite moment at Maryland was living in the Hagerstown dormitory as a freshman. I often had super interesting and thought provoking conversations and in doing so I learned a lot about others, differing opinions, etc. I would stay up some nights past 4 in the morning hearing what some had to say on a specific topic or belief. I felt like I learned the most in these moments and would not trade them for the world

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to implement change daily and get others to do the same. If everyone consciously made this effort, our society would be in a completely different place today

My favorite UMD moment so far has been walking inside of the Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center for the first time. I walked laps around the inside of the building for nearly an hour. Not only was I amazed by the adaptive reuse design centered on learning, but I realized that I wanted to learn more about educational architecture and how I can design learning spaces for future students.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to design sustainable living environments for low-income families in America and in developing countries.

My favorite UMD moment was receiving the Women's Studies Academic Enrichment grant to attend the Feminist Art Conference in Toronto, and my favorite alumna is Adele Stamp because of her contributions to mentorship and educational advocacy on behalf of women.

MY FEARLESS IDEA IS...

to create more accessible art spaces/innovations for educating the public on issues of feminism and human rights.
