Terps of all ages can earn their virtual camping badge this summer at Camp Diamondback! You’ll enjoy a wide range of activities for Terp families, with programs catered to:
  • Children ages 5-8
  • Children ages 9-12
  • Adults ages 21+
University of Maryland Alumni Association staff, faculty, alumni and members of the Student Alumni Leadership Council have developed a robust and fun-filled schedule, with some programs “live” via Zoom and others you can work on at your own pace. Participate in all six weeks of camp activities, or select the ones that work for you. 


Camp will begin with an Opening Campfire on July 6 and conclude with a Closing Campfire on August 14. The majority of children's programming will take place between 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. EST to accommodate different time zones! Check back here as the schedule will continue to be updated weekly with more events!

Discounted pricing is available for Alumni Association members. Join now to take advantage of this member benefit. Prices listed below are per family - all children in your household can participate at one low rate. Programs for alumni ages 21+ are free and registration information is available on our virtual programs page. As of June 21, the all-inclusive package and Weeks 1-3 are no longer available. Families can still register for Weeks 4 - 6.

Once registered, you will be able to track all of your children’s activities using our private Camp Diamondback Facebook page. Parents will be able to view the weekly schedule, printable activity pages, and exclusive how-to videos. Families are encouraged to check-in daily to share photos and participate in special challenges. A Facebook account is required for participation.
Each family will receive a packet in the mail containing a camp T-shirt, a detailed schedule of events, Terp gifts and a supply list to help you prepare. Packets will be mailed to the address provided during registration.



What can I expect from a virtual camp?

Six weeks of fun events, learning, challenges and activities to help keep your kids (and you!) occupied for a few hours a day during the summer. You can expect about four or five “live” events per week led by University of Maryland Alumni Association staff members, faculty, alumni and current students who are members of the Student Alumni Leadership Council. Every family that registers for Camp Diamondback will be mailed a special camp package containing activity packets to guide independent activities and other special gifts. Families will also be given access to a private Facebook group that will house downloadable materials and pre-recorded instructional videos just for our campers.

What are the fees for camp?

Camp Diamondback is $35 per week, per family, or $150 per family for the full six weeks of programming. Alumni Association members receive a discounted rate of $25 per week, per family, and $120 per family for the full six weeks. All children in your household can participate at these rates. Programming for alumni ages 21+ is free and registration information is available on our virtual programs page.

What if I have security concerns surrounding the Facebook group?

The private Facebook group allows us to communicate directly with parents about schedule updates and allows parents and campers to connect with one another. The private group will also house downloadable activities, additional how-to videos, links and instructions on how to access each live event. The page will be closely monitored by University of Maryland Alumni Association staff, and registrants will be required to provide confirmation that they are indeed members of Camp Diamondback before being admitted to the group. What ages are camp activities geared toward?

Each activity for children will have a suggested age group of 5-8 or 9-12 years old. Children ages 5-8 can expect live events like sing-a-longs, storytime and other fun, easy-to-follow activities. Children ages 9-12 will discover activities that can be completed more independently and events like workout and dance classes, Q&As with interesting alumni and short lessons from UMD professors. Adult participants ages 21+ can expect a variety of virtual events including wine tastings, workouts and cooking demos.

What supplies are needed to participate in camp?

This is an entirely virtual camp, so the majority of our programming will take place online. Participants will need access to a computer or smartphone, the internet and a Facebook account to find the private camp materials. Crafts, recipes, experiments and other activities have been designed to be completed with items you commonly have around the house or with materials provided in the camp materials being mailed to your home. A recommended supply list will also be included in your camp box for each week you register.

What is the schedule of activities?

We are constantly adding new programming to Camp Diamondback! A general weekly schedule can be found on this website, however, the detailed schedule for each week will be provided in your private Facebook group. What if my family has a conflict with one of the dates or times of live events?

We will do our best to schedule live events at different times each day to accommodate campers living in different time zones and schedules. In addition, every live program will be recorded and made available on the private camp Facebook page so no one will miss out on the fun!

My child is younger/older than the recommended age for camp. Will the programming still be interesting to them?

We encourage everyone to try out one week, and see how it works for your family. Younger children may find it hard to stay engaged with the events and activities while older teenagers may find this programming a bit boring.
