Meet the Board:

Jen

Jen Coatsworth '00

President

I am so grateful for the time I spent at University of Maryland, so it's an honor to give back to the university as a decades-long member of our local Alumni Association network board and now as a member of the National Alumni Association Board. At Maryland, I had access to a world-class education and unparalleled internship opportunities for my major in government and politics, which provided an excellent foundation for my future career as an equity partner in a major Philadelphia law firm. However, the most important gift that University of Maryland gave me was my husband and my family. My husband and I met at R.J. Bentley's, and we are just celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Our first dog was named Bentley, and we live in the New Jersey suburbs of Philadelphia with our two young Terps fans. I know that some of my kids' best childhood memories will be cheering with us at football and basketball games and waiting for player autographs after the game.

Immediate Past President & Treasurer

I have great memories of my days in College Park and always enjoy going back to campus. We are very much a Terps family. My wife and many of her family members went to Maryland, and our daughter is a 2020 alum. My license plate (which I’ve had since 1993) reads “TERPFAN,” which pretty much says it all.

Secretary

I joined the Philly Terps Board to help connect fellow Terps in the Philadelphia area and support the board’s mission to strengthen our alumni community. As a public health professional who earned both my Bachelor’s and Master's from Maryland, I’m excited to give back to the university that has shaped so much of my personal and professional journey. I hope to create more opportunities for alumni to build relationships with each other and to stay connected to UMD. What I love most about Maryland is the strong sense of community that continues long after graduation. No matter where I am, seeing Maryland’s red, white, black, and gold always brings a sense of home and belonging.

Maryland has played a significant role in helping me discover my identity and guiding me toward a successful career. I am deeply grateful to the university and express my appreciation every day. I enjoy sharing my experiences at Maryland and take pride in being an unofficial ambassador for the school. I love connecting with fellow and prospective Terps, exchanging stories about classes, athletics, nightlife, and campus life. I am eager to see more Maryland alumni unite in the Greater Philadelphia Region to create a supportive network for one another in life, business, and personal growth. Ike is a highly-respected public relations professional with more than 35 years in publicizing live sports and entertainment events across North America.

As a Robert H. Smith School of Business graduate and 4-year member of the field hockey team, Megan's Maryland experience shaped her future both personally and professionally - as a teammate, colleague, friend, partner and now parent. After spending several years in Maryland after graduation, Megan returned to her home state in 2016 when she and her family relocated to Philadelphia. After several years of establishing roots in Center City, she is excited to join the Philly Terps board to help build connections, relationships and community through shared experiences.

Why did you join the Philly Terps board? As a long-standing participant in Philly Terps activities, I've always wanted to do more, and as I transition out of other volunteer commitments in the coming year, now seemed like a great time to join the great team that was already in place!
