Terps Go Sustainable!
Terps Go Sustainable!
Are you ready for the big Maryland vs. Iowa football game? Our first at-home tailgate is Friday, Oct. 1 at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center from 5-8 p.m. EDT (register here). Come connect with fellow Terps as you enjoy food and drinks before kickoff.
Need some fresh Maryland gear? University of Maryland College Park Foundation trustee Al Carey ‘74 has the answer:
“If you’ll be at the game this Friday evening, I hope you’ll be able to stop by REPREVE’s mobile tour in the tailgate parking lot from 4 p.m. till kickoff. Here, you’ll be able to check out your favorite University of Maryland hats and T-shirts made by Under Armour and League Legacy, and how they’re giving plastic bottles a second life through REPREVE. You’ll also be able to learn about how Terps can make a difference when they recycle.”
Carey is proud to continue to give back to the school that gave him so much. He serves as executive chairman of Unifi, Inc., a company that’s committed to sustainable solutions, whose flagship recycled brand, REPREVE®, is a performance fiber that’s made using recycled post-consumer water bottles. REPREVE and the university are teaming up to make a difference, which aligns with President Darryll J. Pines’ announcement at his spring inauguration to make campus carbon-neutral by 2025.
If you won’t be able to make it to the game, you can also purchase the sustainable gear in the Maryland bookstore year round.
“Thank you for supporting the Terps!” says Carey. “And for helping support Unifi’s mission of working today for the good of tomorrow.”
While you’re connecting with fellow alums at the Friday Night Lights Tailgate on Oct. 1, make sure to stop by the REPREVE Sustainability Mobile Tour, available from 4-8 p.m. EDT in Lot 1C.
