The University of Maryland’s biennial Black Alumni Weekend welcomes alums back to College Park to celebrate and enjoy a weekend filled with inspiration, music, great food and endless Terp Pride! Join the University of Maryland as we welcome alums back to College Park to reconnect with fellow classmates, honor Terp legacies and celebrate Terp pride! Register today.

Alumni Association Members will receive discount pricing to select events: Black Terp Fest (Saturday) and Shell of a Brunch (Sunday), plus a complimentary commemorative Black Alumni Weekend t-shirt.  Not a member? Join us for this FREE and powerful conversation with current and former Terp athletes as they share their journeys from campus competition to professional play. Explore what it means to be part of a lasting athletic tradition, and discover how the lessons learned in competition extend far beyond the scoreboard.

Black Terp Fest

Join the University of Maryland Alumni Association, First Lady of Maryland, Dawn Flythe Moore '97 and UMD President, Darryll J. Pines for Black Terp Fest. This festival brings the energy with a family-friendly live music experience, featuring music performances by J. Addo, LA'DY and Be'la Dona. Tickets include food, drinks and access to the entire event experience.

Beyond the main stage, this event will feature a Kids Zone with face painting, caricature artists, ball games, sweet treats and much more.

Shell of a Brunch

Sunday, April 12 | 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Close out Black Alumni Weekend with an elegant brunch, featuring a special performance by Multiple Stellar Award Winner, Dove Nominated, and Billboard Chart Topping Artist, Maurette Brown Clark '89. Tickets include a mimosa bar, a full brunch meal and access to the entire event experience. Plus, spread some Terp cheer by writing a note of encouragement for students during finals week and learn about alumni making an impact in our community.

Friday, April 10

Experience the start of an amazing weekend, together.

8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Oak Creek Golf Club

The inaugural UMD Black Alumni Fairway Golf Classic tees off at 10:00 AM at Oak Creek Golf Club. Rooted in A Celebration of Black alumni, culture and Terp pride, the event brings together fellow Terps for a dynamic day honoring the legacy, leadership, and lasting impact of Maryland’s Black alumni community. Registration includes a golf cart, breakfast, and a commemorative polo. More than a tournament, the Fairway Classic launches a bold new tradition designed to unite generations of Terps for years to come.

Cost: $175/golfer | $700 per team (of 4), all players must pre-register

The Driskell Center

The Driskell Center is a creative incubator dedicated to a world where Black artists exist at its center. Enjoy an interactive exploration of The Driskell Center's spring exhibition, America Will Be! The exhibition explores the rich and ever-unfolding history of how artists and communities have explored the complexities, opportunities, failures, and triumphs of “The American experiment.”

The BSU-UMD Social Justice Alliance honors the life of Lt. Richard W. Collins III at its 8th Annual Social Justice Alliance Symposium titled Freedom Dreams and Radical Joy: Youth Voices in the Pursuit of a Just Society, taking place on April 10, 2026, at the University of Maryland. This year’s symposium will center the voices, visions, and leadership of young people who are reimagining justice through creativity, resistance, and collective joy. Together, we will explore how radical hope and youth-led movements are shaping a more just and liberated future.

Speakers include Abby Phillips, Marley Dias, Lynae Vanee, Kier Gaines, and Stevener Gaskin, among others. A reception will follow the event. To learn more about Lt. Collins’ life and legacy, watch the mini-documentary Rich with Love at go.umd.edu/richwithlove.

Venture X College Park

This panel explores how Black entrepreneurs can move beyond survival mode into sustainable growth. Panelists will share available resources to help businesses build resilient foundations—financially, operationally, and mentally—while preparing their businesses to scale for greater impact. Attendees will gain insight into balancing risk, growth, and purpose while building companies designed to last.

Host: Creators of The Black Terp Entrepreneurship Summit

Explore the legacy of African Americans and their impact on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park through a 90-minute walking tour. The tour, developed by Dr. Kim Nickerson (BSOS), is an affirmation of the positive and meaningful African American presence and existence on our campus.

The Black Honors Caucus (BHC) is excited to host and welcome Honors alumni back to campus. Kick off your weekend meeting current Black Honors students and the Honors College staff.

UMBA presents The Return, the signature Friday late night experience of 2026 Maryland Black Alumni Weekend. Join fellow Terps for a night of music, connection, and celebration. Hosted by UMD alumni Big Tigger (media personality), Special Co-Host Robyn Dixon (RHOP), beats by DJ E Sizz aka Ed Suggs and headlined by DJ M.O.S. This isn’t just a party. Join the A. James Clark School of Engineering, the Center for Minorities in Science & Engineering and the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (CMNS) for our 45th Annual Alumni Celebration! For this highly anticipated event, science and engineering alumni are invited back to College Park during Black Alumni Weekend to catch up with old classmates and make new connections while enjoying brunch and family-friendly activities.

Join us in celebrating the spirit of community at the Student and Alumni Breakfast during a festive morning of food, fun, memories, and reconnection.

Alumni are invited to return to campus for a breakfast to reconnect and network with fellow alumni, faculty, and staff from the School of Public Policy. This gathering offers an opportunity to strengthen community, share experiences, and celebrate the contributions of Black leaders across policy and public service. Attendees are encouraged to start the day with meaningful conversation, connection, and renewed engagement with the School.

Join the University of Maryland Alumni Association and fellow Terps for the Black Terp Fest. The Student Success Leadership Council and the University of Maryland Black Alumni Network presents the 10th Anniversary of the Gift of Giving Gala! We are celebrating 10 years of Black Excellence amongst the Black community here at the University of Maryland. The Gift of Giving Gala, this year themed Casino Royale, celebrates achievements among Black Alumni, students, and staff with a lovely gala: a three-course meal, an open bar, and a night to remember.

Pre-registration is highly encouraged. You will be able to register for individual events on-site during Black Alumni Weekend, but the majority of events have a set capacity and will sell out. Pre-registering is the best way to guarantee your spot!

Saturday's Black Terp Fest is appropriate for all ages. Please check individual event descriptions for information regarding activities available to children.

Alumni Association members receive a special discount at our preferred hotel, The Hotel at the University of Maryland.
