As a student at the University of Maryland, Carlos F. Acosta ’85, M.A. ’91 saw plenty of parking tickets, but not because he was a campus scofflaw. 

The first time Marguerita “Rita” Cheng ‘91, ‘93 set foot on the University of Maryland campus was for freshman orientation.

Mikeal Vaughn '04 is the Founder and Executive Director of Urban Coders Guild, a Tulsa-based nonprofit providing free computer science and STEM education to middle and high school students identifying as BIPOC.

Joe Danczuk ’15 was enrolled at UMD for all of a day when he met Christina Germano Danczuk ’15 at a dinner their roommates organized at their adjacent off-campus apartments. Christina had an intellectual air and was friendly. Joe created an altogether different impression.

As a UMD tour guide, Dan Zawacki ’13 always made it a point to share with visitors that the rock band Hootie and the Blowfish filmed their “Only Wanna Be With You” music video at the Reckord Armory on campus.

Longtime supporters of the School of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies (TDPS) 

Former radio and television students, Ford and Poster are ambassadors for TDPS and have funded two dance scholarships to help students pursue their education at UMD.
