Oscar Casasola ‘24 from San Jose, Costa Rica, is in the middle of his first year at the University of Maryland. The international business and management major has aspirations to excel, as he is trying to add marketing as an additional major.

Tiffany Zheng ‘22, from Easton, Md., is currently in her third year at the University of Maryland and planning to graduate next year. She is majoring in general biology with an interest in dermatology due to her love for skincare.

On March 30, the Student Alumni Leadership Council, in conjunction with the Alumni Association, hosted the first ever virtual Terps Under 30 annual event.

This class of 2020 alumnus bolstered his resume in his time at UMD, and now helps others do the same. When the start date for his job offer out of college was pushed back, he continued working on his capstone project, helping prepare students for their careers.  

Julie Rosenthal ’81 started Food on the 15th, a nonprofit food collection and delivery program for low-income older adults, after a simple breakfast conversation with her then 9-year-old daughter, Jenny.

Magdi Elghannam '22 created ShellCast as a virtual mentorship program for pre-medical students, and he has hopes that it will create a new network for UMD students present and future.

Jake Blackmon ‘21 is the owner of Smoketown Beer, established in 2015 by the Blackmon family. The original Smoketown Brewing is located in a remodeled, small-town fire station in Brunswick, MD.

Sun founded The Every Child Project (also known as TECP) last spring to match university students with younger children who could benefit from individual tutoring during extended remote learning necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
