Graduation is just the beginning — let’s build a Fearlessly Forward Terp network together.

Information about the Recent Alumni Mentorship Program event

About

The Recent Alumni Mentorship Program (RAMP), is a month-long program that provides space for recent Terp graduates to build meaningful professional connections with experienced alums and find support as they transition to life beyond graduation.

Participants will spend each week pf the program focusing on:

  • Launching a new career
  • Learning how to navigate the workplace as a new member of the workforce
  • Utilizing professional development and/or graduate school for upward mobility
  • Navigating life changes during the transition from college to the workforce

Participants will be paired one-on-one to work through an online, guided mentorship experience, including:

  • A virtual orientation session to welcome participants to the program

  • Weekly topics for mentors and mentees to discuss, share thoughts, and ask questions on

  • Optional supplemental virtual discussion sessions where participants can gather informally to chat and connect each week

  • An in-person networking event to close the programs for participants to come together, celebrate, and network with fellow participants face-to-face

The program will take place on the University of Maryland’s networking platform, Terrapins Connect. Everyone interested in participating in the program will be asked to fill out an application indicating which topic areas they are most interested in and if they are interested in applying as a mentor or a mentee.

Who should participate?

This program is designed to support recent graduates (mentees) from the Classes of 2020–2025 as they transition into life as alums. Whether you're launching your career, learning how to navigate the workplace, or exploring graduate school, you'll be matched with a Terp who’s been there – and wants to help.

Mentors for the program are experienced alumni from the Classes of 2007–2019 – Terps who have gotten some career and life experience under their belts and are excited to offer guidance, share insights and help you take confident next steps in your journey post-College Park.

Note: All program participants must live in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, Virginia), as there is an in-person event to close the program. We hope to expand this program to more areas in the future, so stay tuned!

Frequently Asked Questions/Important Notes

At this time, the program is open to participants living in the DMV area only. We hope to expand the program to wider areas in the future, so stay tuned! You can still join the Terrapins Connect to find a Terp to mentor virtually, anywhere across the globe.

Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 21.

Yes. This program will be entirely run through Terrapins Connect and it is required that you have a profile. However, the sign-up process is easy and we are here to help make it seamless! Profiles are free to create and you can optimize your notification settings once you have an account.

The program runs from June 4 to June 25, 2025. The program begins with an hour-long virtual welcome and orientation session. The program closes with an in-person networking event at a location to be determined in the DMV area. Participants must commit to meeting with their mentor for at least 30 minutes each week through the Terrapins Connect platform. There are also optional virtual weekly open discussions for participants to connect and gather to discuss each week's topic in more depth.

The program has four primary focus areas:

  • launching a career
  • learning how to navigate the workplace as a new member of the workforce
  • how to utilize professional development and/or graduate school for upward mobility, and
  • navigating life changes during the transition from college to the workforce.

Mentees and mentors should be prepared to select one of these as an initial focus area, but know that all areas will be covered during the course of the program.

During the registration process, both mentees and mentors will be asked a specific set of questions. Once completed, participants will be matched based on their responses to these questions. Matching will also consider a combination of other factors, including preferences selected by mentees and overlap in interests and background identified in program registration questions.

All participants will receive an email notification on Wednesday, May 28, letting them know they've been matched and that they can then connect on the Terrapins Connect platform.

Mentees in the program are alums who've recently graduated with their Bachelor's or Master's degree (from the Classes of 2020-25). Mentors in the program are alums who graduated in the Classes of 2007-2019, have 5+ years of professional experience and/or a Master's Degree, and are excited to give back by offering their time and expertise to a fellow Terp.

No! There is no cost to participate.
