Welcome to the Windy City!
The Chicago Network of the University of Maryland Alumni Association is one of the newest and fastest-growing networks in the country, tapping into a pool of hundreds of Maryland graduates in the Chicago area.
Whether you’re a recent transplant or a Chicago native, a university alum or just a passionate Terp fan, we hope to be a resource for you in Chicago to connect with others and celebrate our ties to the university.
As the first Maryland Alumni network to be chartered in the Midwest — in the city that's home to more Big Ten alumni than any other — we’re on the front lines of one of the biggest changes in the university’s history. The members of our network are excited to engage with others in the Chicago community and all of the Midwest and to represent our alma mater proudly.

June 20: WhirlyBall and Jeff's Send-Off Celebration
It's a little bit of things any College Park expat knows well: Basketball hoops. Lacrosse sticks. And of course, constant bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Here in Chicago, it's a sport called WhirlyBall — and we hope you'll join us for an hour of action on Saturday, June 20 at 1 p.m. at WhirlyBall's new complex at 1825 W. Webster Ave.
The price will ultimately depend on the number of participants, but it should be between $15 and $25 per person. If you'd like to join, email Caroline Soble ('13) ASAP at email@example.com.
Afterwards, we'll take a short walk over to Derby Bar & Grill, 1224 W. Webster Ave., to give a proper farewell to the amazing Jeff Jackel ('89) — the Chicago District Leader for the Terrapin Club Scholarship Fund — who is moving back east this summer after being instrumental in growing our alumni organization the past few years. While we regret losing him to the New York and New Jersey networks, Jeff will forever be a Chicago Terp — and we hope you'll join the celebration!

An official University of Maryland bar in Chicago: George Street Pub!
Since 2014, the Chicago Terps have called George Street Pub their official home for gamewatches, located at 2858 N. Halsted St. in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood. Just a short walk from several CTA Red and Brown Line stations, George Street Pub will be the place to meet up with the Big Ten's newest alumni base.
