Annual Alumni Holiday Party

Join the University of Maryland Alumni Association and President Darryll J. Pines at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History for the fourth Annual Alumni Holiday Party. Celebrate the holiday season with fellow alums while enjoying great food, beer, wine, access to three exhibits and a silent auction.

Registration will close at 5 p.m. EST on Friday, December 15. Pre-registration is required, tickets will not be sold at the door.

Silent Auction

This year will feature a silent auction benefiting the University of Maryland Alumni Association Student Scholarship Fund. 

The silent auction will open virtually on December 8 and will close on December 16 at the end of the event. 

Terps will be able to access the auction using Handbid, a mobile silent auction platform. Bid on vacations and exclusive experiences, professional coaching, fitness classes, Terp memorabilia, food and drink items, plus much more! All Terps are invited to participate—not just Holiday Party attendees.

Save time by setting up a Handbid account today:

  1. Download the Handbid app from the Apple iTunes App Store or the Google Play store - be sure to accept push notifications.

  2. Create an account by following screen prompts - be sure to use your cell phone as the phone number to receive important notifications.

  3. Preview the auction by selecting/searching for “Alumni Holiday Party Silent Auction” then swipe left to enter the auction. Swipe left/right to access categories and up/down to access items.

You can access the auction through a web browser at https://events.handbid.com/ and we will have iPads available at the Holiday Party to get you signed up and bidding.

$15 for Alumni Association members
$30 standard rate 

No walk-ins will be accepted; all attendees must be pre-registered. 

Transportation & Parking

The closest Metro stations to the museum are the Federal Triangle Metro station, located on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines; the Archives/Navy Memorial station on the Green and Yellow lines; and the Metro Center station on the Red line.

If you choose to drive, please note there is no parking available at the National Museum of Natural History. Please visit the museum site for additional parking information.

Do not drink and drive—we encourage everyone to consider using public transportation or rideshare services. We will provide a discount UBER code to registered attendees 48 hours prior to the event.

Refund Policy

Ticket refunds are not available for this event. However, as a special benefit, Alumni Association members may receive a refund up to 10 days prior to the event date.
