Join a virtual session featuring alumni sharing their career paths, industry/job insights, and/or tips for applying to your industry with students. This opportunity is best suited for alumni with less than five years of experience.

Resume Reviewers & Mock Interviewers

We are seeking your help in supporting students enrolled in our 1-credit career courses through live resume reviews and mock interviews. The UMD University Career Center anticipates 400+ UMD students to enroll in two of our 1-credit career courses. Dates are available from February through May 2024.


For resume reviews, we are seeking volunteers who have a background in career services, recruiting, human resources, hiring for professional positions, or related fields where resume reviews have been conducted in the past.

Mock interview
volunteers are open to everyone.
All volunteers will receive training materials from me a few weeks before your scheduled shift.

If you are a Smith School of Business graduate, please consider joining an advisory council. These are two-year terms, 2-4 hours per semester.

Supporting Student Teachers and New Teachers

Currently, there is a nationwide teacher shortage that is placing stress on new educators. Volunteering to support student teachers and new teachers is one way of addressing this grand challenge. Alumni will be given a menu of volunteer opportunities to choose from. All opportunities will focus on preparing and supporting the next generation of K-12 educators through classroom visits, job search preparation, or sending notes of encouragement.
