Volunteer Wherever You Are

Are you interested in engaging with the newest Class of 2029 Terps? The Alumni Association and Office of Undergraduate Admissions are looking for Terp alums, like you, to help welcome admitted students to UMD through a postcard writing campaign.

Deadline to sign up is February 10.

Join in on a fun and engaging opportunity to connect with Terps in your community. Each table offers alums the opportunity to network with fellow University of Maryland graduates, chat about life after college, and have a meaningful out classroom experience.

UMD students participate in the opportunity to give back to the community through a range of social justice issues that impact local, national, and international communities.

We are looking for alums who would be willing to host 13 students for dinner while they are on their alternative break. Dates and locations can be found on the link below. If interested, please contact adimop@umd.edu

The KidWind Challenge is a national hands-on wind turbine design competition that engages students in grades 4- 12 in clean energy education. Alums are needed to review the competition. 

Do you have career insights and advice to share? Help our students make the daunting transition from student to professional by sharing your story, experiences, and lessons learned. ARHU has various opportunities for you to "pay it forward." Please reach out to learn more and get involved.

Proud Terp parents, who are also alumni, are invited to explore engagement opportunities through the Parents Philanthropy Board (PPB). Nearly 50 families from across the country find PPB membership a great way to be supportive of their student’s Terp Experience while taking on an advisory role to university leadership. Share Your Experiences
The Advising & Career Planning team at the Feller Center would love to create opportunities for you to share your career related knowledge with current students. Do you have 30 minutes to talk about your job or industry? Students want to hear from you! Join a virtual session featuring alumni sharing their career paths, industry/job insights, and/or tips for applying to your industry with students. 

Looking for a way to connect with fellow Terps while volunteering at a local organization? Packaging food, park clean up, etc.? Complete the form below to get started. 

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Alumni Associations hosts events in the early spring to connect alums and prospective students. If you are interested in attending and or speaking at these future events please complete the brief form below and we will be in touch once the dates are scheduled. 

If you are a Smith School of Business graduate, please consider joining an advisory council. These are two-year terms, 2-4 hours per semester.

Currently, there is a nationwide teacher shortage that is placing stress on new educators. Volunteering to support student teachers and new teachers is one way of addressing this grand challenge. Alumni will be given a menu of volunteer opportunities to choose from. All opportunities will focus on preparing and supporting the next generation of K-12 educators through classroom visits, job search preparation, or sending notes of encouragement.

The Department of Geography is looking for alums to share their work and experience during their virtual weekly seminars. The seminar takes place on Thursday's throughout the semester. If you are interested in learning more and to get added to the schedule, reach out to Renata. 

The I4C Mentoring Program will facilitate community building, support academic success, and provide professional development for all students in computing at the University of Maryland.
