Host students on Alternative Breaks
UMD students participate in the opportunity to give back in the community though a range of social justice issues that impact local, national, and international communities.
We are looking for alums who would be willing to host 13 students for dinner while they are on their alternative break. Dates and locations can be found on the link below. If interested, please contact adimop@umd.edu
Host a Table with Terps
Join in on a fun and engaging opportunity to connect with Terps in your community. Each table offers alums the opportunity to network with fellow University of Maryland graduates, chat about life after college, and have a meaningful out classroom experience.
Holiday Party Silent Auction
Support student scholarships by volunteering for the Alumni Association Holiday Party Silent Auction. The Silent Auction will raise critical scholarship funds for Maryland students. Get involved by securing auction items, and/or make an in-kind donation of a good or service. Both opportunities allow you to give back to the next generation of Terps while supporting your alma mater. Interested in helping, or want to learn more?
Maryland KidWind
Feb. 15, 2025
The KidWind Challenge is a national hands-on wind turbine design competition that engages students in grades 4- 12 in clean energy education. Alums are needed to review the competition.

BSOS Advising & Career Planning
Share Your Experiences
The Advising & Career Planning team at the Feller Center would love to create opportunities for you to share your career related knowledge with current students. Do you have 30 minutes to talk about your job or industry? Students want to hear from you! Join a virtual session featuring alumni sharing their career paths, industry/job insights, and/or tips for applying to your industry with students.
Are you a parent of a Terp or a new Terp of the Class of 2028?
Proud Terp parents, who are also alumni, are invited to explore engagement opportunities through the Parents Philanthropy Board (PPB). Nearly 50 families from across the country find PPB membership a great way to be supportive of their student’s Terp Experience while taking on an advisory role to university leadership. Are you working in the field of communication? During this event, you will be placed in a breakout room labeled with your city and your name. Students will move freely between the breakout rooms to chat with alums of interest.

Connect with Prospective Students
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Alumni Associations hosts events in the early spring to connect alums and prospective students. If you are interested in attending and or speaking at these future events please complete the brief form below and we will be in touch once the dates are scheduled.
Smith School of Business Advisory Councils
If you are a Smith School of Business graduate, please consider joining an advisory council. These are two-year terms, 2-4 hours per semester.
Supporting Student Teachers and New Teachers
Currently, there is a nationwide teacher shortage that is placing stress on new educators. Volunteering to support student teachers and new teachers is one way of addressing this grand challenge. Alumni will be given a menu of volunteer opportunities to choose from. All opportunities will focus on preparing and supporting the next generation of K-12 educators through classroom visits, job search preparation, or sending notes of encouragement.
Geography Department-Guest Presenters
The Department of Geography is looking for alums to share their work and experience during their virtual weekly seminars. The seminar takes place on Thursday's throughout the semester. If you are interested in learning more and to get added to the schedule, reach out to Renata.
Mentor a student in the Iribe Center
The I4C Mentoring Program will facilitate community building, support academic success, and provide professional development for all students in computing at the University of Maryland.
