Registration is now open for the third annual EnTERPreneur Conference! Join fellow Terp entrepreneurs for the opportunity to network and learn from experts across different sectors. Topics include transitioning from crisis to championship, marketing technology, healthcare disruptors and digital currency, among others. This event also features Under Armour executive chairman and brand chief Kevin Plank '96 in conversation with President Darryll J. Pines. Registration starts for as low as $30 for members of the Alumni Association. 

At this year's conference, participants will have the opportunity to: 

  • Connect with resources at UMD to help start or grow their business venture(s)
  • Learn from alumni and faculty experts to prepare their startup for success
  • Network with other Terp entrepreneurs, investors and advisors and form relationships that will help them advance their career
  • Celebrate the achievements of Terp entrepreneurs and learn why UMD has been rated in the top 10 entrepreneurship programs for seven consecutive years

  • Transitioning from Crisis to Championship: A new set of challenges arose for businesses in 2021, all while fighting for survival in a reborn economy. Their resilience and agility were put to the ultimate test. Winners being those who transitioned from crisis to championship.   • Traffic and Conversions: Marketing, digital advertising and analyzing data collected through both strategies are critical to staying ahead of traffic in business practices. But what’s next in consumer behavior, digital marketing and advertising? What are the latest trends? Attend this session for a look into how to use some effective hacks to grow your funnels, enhance your copywriting and leverage split testing on digital platforms to increase your visibility and customer base.   • Healthcare Disruptors: As the pandemic has shown, the U.S. healthcare system is rife with inefficiencies and in need of innovative solutions. What can be done to ensure that it is more effective and responsive to changing demands? Hear from three disruptors about their ventures, what specific segment of the health care system they are tackling and what it takes to build and scale a solution in this sector.   • Blockchain: Beyond Cryptocurrency: Cryptocurrency has garnered worldwide attention and investment, but what about non-monetary use cases? This session explores blockchain and NFTs for other purposes with two panelists from blockchain startups.   • Investing and Investors: Venture capitalists’ ability to pour billions into private markets and tech companies has decreased the technological innovation lifecycle to five to seven years from the traditional 32 years from initial innovation to commercialization. With global ventures hitting $643 billion in 2021, and over 900 tech companies being valued at over $ 1 billion at the close of the year, we are seeing a dynamic evolution in market creation. How do you keep up? What does this mean for industries and investors? And how should entrepreneurs build? 3:15-4 p.m. The Future of Entrepreneurship: featuring Cate Luzio '97 and Manpreet Singh '03 in conversation with University of Maryland Interim Chief Innovation Officer Dean Chang, Ph.D. :Where are today's new entrepreneurs coming from? What's motivating them to get involved in entrepreneurship? How do we continue to broaden participation in entrepreneurship and improve accessibility to entrepreneurship? And, what are some overall business and societal trends in the startup and venture investment world?

4-4:15 p.m. EnTERPreneurship Awards: As part of our annual Alumni Excellence Awards, the EnTERPreneur awards honor entrepreneurial alums whose companies have made a significant impact on the university, the state and/or the nation. We celebrate these Terps who have started businesses that are fearlessly disrupting their industries.
4:15-5:30 p.m. Networking Reception featuring the NEW Startup Showcase: Our EnTERPreneurs are building exciting new ventures. Get to know these founders and see for yourself what they are working on. Take a few moments to hear their pitches, learn more about their innovative solutions and demo their product or engage with their services.

About the EnTERPreneur Conference

In March 2020, the Alumni Association hosted the inaugural EnTERPreneur Conference, bringing together more than 250 entrepreneurial alumni at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. In June 2021, the conference was held virtually, allowing more than 350 Terps to connect regardless of their location, and featured a keynote fireside chat with the founder of Beyond Meat, Ethan Brown MPM '97 and President Darryll J. Pines.

The Terp Entrepreneur Network (TEN) is a University of Maryland Alumni Association industry-focused group with a broad mandate to foster a vibrant Terp alumni entrepreneurship ecosystem.
