Official Contest Rules

By participating in the University of Maryland contact update raffle, you agree that:

  1. The contest will run from January 1 to March 31, 2025. All contact update submissions must be entered by 11:59 p.m. March 31, 2025.

  2. Contact update submissions received between January 1 to March 31, 2025, will be automatically entered into the contest. Limit one (1) entry per individual.

  3. The contest drawing shall be held at the University of Maryland, College Park on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The winner will be randomly selected.

  4. Each entry is a chance to win the prize. There will be no cash award alternative; the winner is entitled only to the prize. There will be only one prize awarded. Information about the experience itinerary and inclusions is available above.

  5. The odds of winning will be determined by the number of entrants.

  6. The winner does not need to be present to win. At the drawing, the winner will be contacted based on the name and information on the entry. Winner notification will be made by telephone and email immediately after drawing. To redeem the prize, two forms of identification, one of which must be a photo ID, will be required.

  7. The winner has 48 hours to claim the prize or forfeits all claims thereto. Backup winners will be drawn, but not announced, in case the first winner does not claim the prize within 48 hours, declines the prize or is otherwise ineligible.

  8. The winner’s name will be available starting on April 1, 2025, by submitting a written request to the University of Maryland Alumni Association, Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center, College Park, MD 20742.

  9. Participants must be at least 18 years old and living in the United States. The winner may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility at the discretion of the University of Maryland Alumni Association.

  10. The winner is solely responsible for all fees, expenses and taxes related to the prize, including but not limited to: federal, state and local taxes. The University of Maryland Alumni Association has no liability with regard to taxes, expenses and fees for the prize.

  11. The University of Maryland Alumni Association specifically and expressly disclaims all express or implied warranties, including BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose WITH RESPECT TO the prize. All prizes will be transferred to the winner “as is, where is, and with all faults.”

  12. The WINNER and his/her successors, heirs and assigns AGREES TO release, indemnify, and TO HOLD the University of Maryland Alumni Association harmless for any and all claims, injuries or damages incurred or arising from or out of the prize and the winners’ acceptance and use thereof.

  13. In the event the winner is unable to utilize the prize, the University of Maryland Alumni Association is not obligated to provide an alternative prize, and has no liability to the winner beyond the refund of the price paid for membership.

  14. The winner agrees that the University of Maryland Alumni Association may use his/her name, address, photograph or videotape likeness and statements for publicity purposes, and agrees to sign a publicity release without any further compensation as a condition of entering the contest.

  15. The University of Maryland Alumni Association reserves the right to cancel this contest if one or more of the following conditions exists: the contest prize becomes unavailable; the contest is deemed as illegal under federal, state and/or local law by a competent governmental agency or is challenged by other interested party; the association files bankruptcy or otherwise goes out of business; the university declares the contest unacceptable; the Board of Governors declares by majority vote to cancel the contest; the association finds that the contest prize was obtained in an unlawful manner; the association finds the contest to be in any way unlawful; or the association deems it is impossible to adequately complete the contest as publicized.

  16. University of Maryland Alumni Association employees and their immediate families are not eligible to win. Immediate family includes spouse, children and children’s spouses.

  17. The University of Maryland Alumni Association is the official sponsor of this contest.

  18. THIS CONTEST IS SUBJECT TO ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LAWS, AND IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED, TAXED TO THE ASSOCIATION, OR OTHERWISE RESTRICTED.

  19. These official contest rules may not be waived, modified or supplemented except by the University of Maryland Alumni Association. No modification of these official contest rules shall be enforceable unless made by the University of Maryland Alumni Association in writing.

  20. By entering this contest, each participant release the University of Maryland Alumni Association, and its trustees, directors, officer, employees, and agency from any and all liability for injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by participating in the contest.

  21. By entering this contest, participants accept and agreed to the terms set forth above.
