Meet SALC's New Advisor, Jessica Lee

By Amy Petrocelli ‘21

Get to know our new SALC Advisor and the Alumni Association’s Program Manager of Student Engagement, Jessica Lee ‘14, M.Ed ‘19.

Jessica Lee ‘14, M.Ed ‘19 graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S in neurobiology/ physiology and a linguistics minor, and then earned her M.Ed in student affairs.

Before working at the Alumni Association and becoming involved with the Student Alumni Leadership Council (SALC), she worked for Gemstone and the Honors College as the coordinator for student engagement for six years, and served as the Delta Gamma sorority house director from 2018-2020. When she was an undergrad, she was very involved with Images and Gemstone, and worked with the admissions office.

Jessica came to work for the Alumni Association because she likes being able to engage many constituents on a larger scale, interacting with all of campus and building relationships with our vast alumni network.

Here are some fun facts about this double Terp: She loves to share reading updates, book reviews and releases. You can follow her dedicated book Instagram account @onewordonepage. She also enjoys cooking, running and barre.. She is a dog person (but not a dog owner) and wants to get one this year. She enjoys crafty things and creativity, and has a new bullet journaling hobby.

Jessica’s biggest advice for SALC alumni is to make time for, and don’t forget, the things that bring you joy. She says that working and attending graduate school right out of undergrad can be overwhelming. In those stressful moments, make sure you devote time to the things outside of work that grounds you in your work.

As the new SALC advisor, she aspires to enhance SALC programs and initiatives, and wants to ensure SALC is representative of the students on campus. She is looking forward to re-imagining engagement for newly admitted students and legacy programs -- what that looks like, expanding events and communications, and more.

We are so excited to welcome Jessica to the SALC family, and we look forward to seeing the exciting things she does as our new advisor!
